Oct 2019 Update

**FOSTER NEEDED** (also available for adoption)

We are sadly in need of a "hospice/long-term" foster for our old gal Osi. Unfortunately, she was recently diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and is need of a place where she can live out the rest of her life comfortably and happily. She is currently stable on medication and diet changes (which the rescue covers), but sadly kidney disease is progressive and she will not get better. She is a very loving dog to her current fosters. She needs a foster who does not need to leave her for long periods of time (such as school breaks, extended vacations), due to her separation anxiety and attachment to her fosters. She is on anti-anxiety medications to help with this, but we would like to minimize any stressful events during the remainder of her time. She is protective of her fosters, so should be the only pet in the household and no children. We would like to find Osi a retirement foster home where she can spend the rest of her days and spend her last holidays peacefully.

If you are able to provide a senior foster home for Osi, please contact awfpfosters@gmail.com or if interested in adopting please contact awfpadoptions@gmail.com

Osi is a 9-10 year old lab mix. She is an old sweet girl who just needs a quiet home. She loves scratches on her back, playing tug of war and is also house trained and does not chew on anything other than treats and toys! She would do best in a quiet home where she is the only pet or there is a calm/relaxed dog who will leave her alone if she wants it.

Here is what her new foster has to say about her: "Some things I’ve learned about her is she’s practically a mountain goat, we took her to cascade falls and she was keeping us going on the trail and absolutely loved swimming in the water. From the way she moves you’d never know she’s older, she also loves her toys and playing tug of war, in that last picture she was making a pile of them. She always poses really pretty with her paws crossed, and is very loving to us."

Please read through our adoption policies and requirements at www.awfpva.org/adoptions prior to requesting an application.
All of our animals are in foster homes. We will schedule meet and greets after approving your adoption application to ensure our fosters are only meeting with serious applicants. Please allow 1-2 weeks for approval as AWFP is run by volunteers who are full-time veterinary students.
